On 4th August 2005 the Governing Mayor of the City of Berlin, Klaus Wowereit visited the Berlin Heart AG. “It is a great honour for us to welcome our guest, the Governing Mayor of Berlin Klaus Wowereit at our premises”, said Berlin Heart AG’s chairman of the board, Mr. René Garo at the beginning of the official event. The visit of the Governing Mayor took place on an initiative of Dr. Bruno Broich, chairman of the board at TSB Technologiestiftung Berlin. In his speech he pointed out that the development of the VAD at Berlin Heart AG which has been supported by the TSB, proves to be a successful example of transfer of technology between scientific, clinical and economical medical technology.

Prof. Dr. med. Dr. h.c. mult Roland Hetzer, the medical director of the German Heart Center Berlin (DHZB), who described the history of the VAD’s development and René Garo who gave a detailed explanation of the function of the products INCOR® and EXCOR® were able to convince Mr. Wowereit of this proposal.
Among the invited guests were also one INCOR® and one EXCOR® patient who were pleased to show the Governing Mayor their VAD’s “ I’m just fine” said the INCOR® patient Uwe Magdeburg smiling at Mr. Wowereit and showed him his bag which carries the driving unit for the device.
 
After the speeches were held Mr. Wowereit took a tour of the company premises where he was informed about the innovative technology which enhances the devices.

The visit concluded with a photograph of the Berlin Heart AG staff together with the Governing Mayor.
