A Brazilian success story

Only a few weeks after her birth in Maceió, Brasil, little Lorena is diagnosed with severe cardiomyopathy. The systolic performance of her heart gets worse and both her right and left ventricle are affected. To bridge the time until transplantation, an EXCOR® Pediatric system for biventricular support is implanted for the very first time in Brazil. Lorena's health is improving rapidly after this live-saving operation.

Lorena's health is improving rapidly after this live-saving operation. Four months later, in April 2018, the long-awaited message arrives - a donor heart is available. The ensuing transplantation is successful and only a few weeks later, Lorena can finally return home. Only a few weeks later, after being transplanted successfully, Lorena can finally return home.
